Interoperability

Data needs to work with applications or worflows for analysis, storage and processing.

I1

I1. (Meta)data use a formal, accessible, shared, and broadly applicable language for knowledge representation.

This is a long term goal of SALURBAL which is to adopt DDI standards for integration to the globally FAIR ecosystem. DDI uses XML for representation of metadata which is a widely used standard for encoding documents in manner that is human-readable and machine-readable. This supports interoperability and allows SALURBAL metadata to be integrated and utilized by various data systems.

I2.

I2. (Meta)data use vocabularies that follow FAIR principles.

This is a long term goal of SALURBAL which is to adopt DDI standards for integration to the globally FAIR ecosystem. DDI provides standardized vocabularies for describing data in social, behavioral and economics sciences. Adhering to these controlled vocabularies increase interoperability making it easier for researcher to standardized terms across studies and disciplines.

I3.

I3. (Meta)data include qualified references to other (meta)data.

This is a long term goal of SALURBAL which is to adopt DDI standards for integration to the globally FAIR ecosystem. DDI allows references to other datasets supporting linkages between related datasets and capturing data relationships. This aspect of DDI can support integration of data from various sources.
